On May 12, 2015, more than 1,300 guests attended the 17th Annual Salute the Stars awards luncheon at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium. The event, hosted by the John Lynch Foundation, in partnership with the Reiman Foundation and FourPoint Energy, is designed to recognize and reward outstanding student athletes for their accomplishments.
Mayor Michael B. Hancock, John Elway and new Broncos head Coach Gary Kubiak assisted John Lynch and his wife Linda in distributing 15 awards worth $84,000 to deserving student-athletes – some with special needs – and two coaches.
“We are proud to partner with the John Lynch Foundation for the second year,” said Reiman Foundation Chairman and CEO, Scott Reiman. “These kids are so dedicated in every facet of their lives, from the field to the classroom to their communities. Helping to provide them with these types of incredible opportunities and recognition is an honor.”
Salute the Stars attendees heard from Broncos legend John Elway and Coach Kubiak who engaged in a Q&A session on important topics such as leadership, adversity, perseverance, and of course, Denver Broncos football. Two lucky students were selected for the opportunity to catch a pass from Elway and Kubiak, both former quarterbacks.
“Through the years we have seen so many incredible kids but this year’s award winners were some of the most impressive we have seen to date,” said John Lynch. “They are not only wonderful students-athletes but they all embody such incredible spirit. They remind us that there is so much good in this world and it inspires us tremendously.
